October 29, 2026
The Huntington Blue Devil Marching Band had an exciting and successful weekend, improving its competition score at both the Mineola Competition on Saturday and Huntington’s Home Show on Sunday.
At the Mineola Competition, the band increased its score to 79.5, earning fourth place. The momentum continued on Sunday at the Huntington Home Show, where the Blue Devils achieved a score of 80.1, placing fourth in the Large School II Division.
Huntington welcomed marching bands from Walt Whitman, Sewanhaka, Division Avenue, Sachem, Copiague, Malverne, Roslyn, Brentwood, and Hicksville for Sunday’s competition. Approximately 2,500 guests attended the event, making it an exciting day of music, school spirit, and community celebration.
The Band Parents Association of Huntington (BPAH) helped make the Home Show a success by coordinating tents, vendors, food, and activities for attendees. Mr. Rizzuto also collaborated with the New York State Field Band Conference to coordinate the competition schedule, event layout, and overall organization. The Board of Education and Central Office staff supported the event and assisted with the awards ceremony.
“Our students performed exceptionally well, and I could not be more proud of them,” said Mr. Rizzuto. “Thank you so much to our staff, volunteers, and BPAH for putting together such an amazing day for the Huntington Home Show. Thank you to our Board of Education and Central Office’s support and assisting with the awards ceremony.”
The Huntington Union Free School District congratulates the Huntington Blue Devil Marching Band on its outstanding performances and continued progress. We are grateful to the dedicated staff, families, volunteers, and community members whose support helps our students thrive and makes events like the Home Show such a success.
