Huntington High School Students Recognized as National Merit Commended Students

Huntington High School seniors Emma Marsala and Katherine Gordon have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, earning recognition for their exceptional academic promise.

Marsala and Gordon were among approximately 34,000 students nationwide selected as Commended Students. They were recognized based on their outstanding performance on the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT, placing them among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship competition. Both students have demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence throughout their years at Huntington High School. In addition to their classroom accomplishments, Marsala and Gordon are actively involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities, contributing to the vibrant Huntington High School community.

According to a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, “These students represent a valuable national resource and are vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

“It is an honor to recognize and celebrate these two exceptional and wonderful young ladies,” Principal Rochelle Brown said. “This commendation is a testament to their hard work, and I am excited about what the future holds for them.”

The Huntington UFSD community congratulates Emma and Katherine on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to celebrating their continued accomplishments throughout their senior year and beyond.
