Blue Devil Senior Athletic Awards Ceremony on June 16

May 28, 2026

The 58th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 16 in the Huntington High School auditorium at 6 p.m.

Seniors who are slated to receive awards will be called to the high school athletic office and presented with a written invitation. Parents and family members are also welcome to attend. The auditorium’s air conditioning and technological equipment will enhance the evening and ceremony, which is expected to run about 90 minutes.

Coaches will present about 100 individual awards to their team members. Numerous special awards will also be presented, including the Section XI Gold Key Award, which goes to seniors who participated in at least eight of nine athletic seasons between grades 10-12. There are 15 Blue Devils who have qualified for the county award this year.

Many of the awards carry financial stipends. More than $22,000 in scholarships will be presented to senior athletes along with handsome plaques custom made for the Blue Devils. Drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann will serve as master of ceremonies.

The recipients of several other special awards will also be announced, including the Blue Devil Discipline, Desire & Dedication Award, which will be presented to seven seniors.

Among the awards being presented will be the William Class Memorial Scholarship; Courtney O’Bryan Memorial Scholarship; Huntington Booster Club Sportsmanship Awards; Pierre Delva Memorial Scholarship; Empire Automotive Group Scholar Athlete Awards; Alan Kuver Memorial Fencing Scholarships; Peter Steen Memorial Prize, Fred Cambria Award, Donald A. Loughlin Lacrosse Founders Award; John Fulton Sr. Memorial Scholarship, Paci Family Football Leadership Award, Amanda Cullinan Foundation Resiliency Awards and Huntington Village Lacrosse Club scholarships.

Seniors Jolie Weinschreider, Cameron Smith and Vincent Pupillo will all speak about what it has meant to them to wear a Blue Devil uniform through the years.

Freshman Helena Sullivan will kick-off the evening by singing the “Star Spangled Banner.” Senior Lily Wasoski will later perform “Landslide,” a song made famous by Stevie Nicks and the band “Fleetwood Mac” between the remarks given by Ms. Weinschreider and Ms. Smith while a short slideshow of black and white photos of Huntington athletes and teams silently runs. Guitarist Michael Zigon will accompany Ms. Wasoski during the performance.

Superintendent Beth M. McCoy and Principal Rochelle Brown will both speak at the beginning of the ceremony. District officials will present some of the scholarships and awards.

The evening will conclude with a ten minute color film created by Darin Reed that highlights the 2025/26 Blue Devil athletic program. The film will be shown on the auditorium’s huge screen.
