Junior Eric Heinz Wins Pentathlon at 58th Loucks Games

May 11, 2026

Huntington junior Eric Heinz captured the five event pentathlon at the 58th annual Glenn D. Loucks Memorial Track & Field Meet at White Plains last weekend. The ancient pentathlon was featured in the earliest Olympic Games. It included running, jumping, javelin, discus and wrestling. It is often said to be an indication of the best all-around athletes.

Huntington's Eric Heinz won the pentathlon at the 58th Loucks Games.

Heinz' performance ranks him number one in New York State this spring in the event and number four in the United States. It's the sixth best performance ever in the Loukes Games.

Last Saturday’s modern pentathlon consisted of five separate events: 110m hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 1500m run. Heniz was splendid in winning the event. Huntington junior Robbie Campbell came in seventh place in the event.

Heinz scored 3,321 points overall, outdistancing the field of 20. The Blue Devil great finished 12 points ahead of the runner-up in the event.

Heinz won the 1500m run in a time of 4:24.66 and took second place in long jump (20-07.25 feet) and fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.67 seconds). The Blue Devil star went on to finish sixth in shot put (36-06.75) and thirteenth in high jump with a leap of 5-08 feet.

Campbell won the shot put with a toss of 40-03.25 feet en route to an overall seventh place finish with 3.096 points.

The first running of the Glenn D. Loucks Memorial Track & Field Meet took place in May 1968. Since then, the Loucks Games have grown from a boys-only, one-day event to one of the largest independent, on-campus scholastic invitationals in the nation. Now, more than 3,000 young women and men compete each year at the elite, three-day meet, that features some of the best performances in the country. Several Loucks competitors have gone on to compete in collegiate, national and Olympic track and field meets.
