Titanic The Musical Takes Place Alongside Great Shows

The Huntington High School drama club had another hit on its hands last Friday and Saturday as three performances of “Titanic: The Musical” captivated audiences and energized the actors, pit orchestra musicians and stage crew members.

It marked the final show for seniors Maya Ackerman, Mason Gomez, Isabella Cruz Ponce, Victoria Hart, Walter Lopez, Sergio Portillo and Alex Tine.

Crowds filled the high school auditorium for performances on Friday at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show was directed by Huntington English teacher Michael Schwendemann, who also handled musical staging.

“I’m very happy with the results,” said Mr. Schwendemann on Sunday as he decompressed after several months of rehearsals. He was all over the auditorium during the performances on Friday and Saturday, including backstage and in the balcony.

In addition to the seniors, the cast included Kellen Anderson, Elisabetta Arra, Alex Boeckmann, Isaiah Bynum, Harper Cohn, Angelica Cunningham, Michael DiVincenzo, Lauren Dopico, Bella Duke, Brady Duke, Deveren Flynn, Xavier Garcia, Iliana Jarmolowski, Tallulah Koepele, Arlene Maldonado, Jonathan Naborre, Billy Oliva, Elena Prior, Karina Rodriguez, Lena Sullivan, Imogen Thaler, Ella Triolo and Mya Williams.

The pit orchestra featured Allison Huth, Matthew Jimenez, Olivia Lee and Eva Richter on violin; Kevin Dominguez, Zach Helgeson and Rachel Huth on viola; Gabriel Salinas on cello; Manpreet Kaur on bass; and Alexis Haas and Daniel Simon on percussion.

The stage crew included Ethan Ambrosio, Jordana Boxer, Gianna Brady, Lily Buscemi, Charles Desrochers, Carter Dondero, Mia Einemann, Olivia Guerrero, Greyson Henderson, Heather Herman, Fintan Hackett-Johnson, Beatrix Hopkins, Alexa Mazure, Emma Mortensen, Franklin Mulvaney, Casey Myers, Mary Padovani, Christina Ray, Vader Renkewitz, Audrey Sherwood, Charlie Stanforth, Rebecca Stone, Logan Tine and Vivian Wallace.

Hosun Moon was the vocal director with Arielle Harvey serving as musical director. Mike Zigon was the technical director and Jamie Chandler Torns and Cassidy Torns handled choreography and musical staging. Alexandra Boeckmann and Imogen Thaler were the dance captains. The Costumer headed up the cast costumes department.
