H-ton Flag Football Tops Bay Shore, 13-6 to Stay Undefeated

The Huntington flag football team extended its best start ever to 2-0 by turning back Bay Shore in a fierce defensive struggle on the South Shore, 13-6.
The game was scoreless for a long stretch before the Blue Devils’ offense started to click. Khi Casey passed for a touchdown to Ariana Zavala and Casey ran for another touchdown.
Huntington’s ground game accounted for 80 yards rushing. Anabella Rafailan gained 41 yards on seven carries. Mikiyla Blizzard rushed five times for 23 yards. Casey gained 14 yards on four rushes. Allisson Cano carried the ball for an important extra point.
Ashley Moreno had seven completions in 11 attempts for 34 yards and an interception. Casey, Rafailan and Cano combined to complete three of six passes for 62 yards.
Kymora Dorvilus returned four kicks for 35 yards and caught a pair of passes for 10 yards. Dakota Respass had three receptions for 26 yards.
Dorvilus had a team high 11 flag pulls along with two pass breakups. Hardge had four flag pulls, a pass breakup and an interception, which she returned 20 yards. Colato tallied a flag pull, two pass breakups and an interception. Amaya Scott had four flag pulls and a quarterback sack. Blizzard had five flag pulls and two sacks. Andrea Reyes had a flag pull and a sack.
“Our defense set the tone again putting up get another stellar performance with four sacks, two interceptions and a bunch of pass breakups,” said Malcolm Eugene, who coaches the team along with Patrick Reilly.
“Senior Captain Kymora Dorvilus led the way, while sophomore co-captains Izabelle Colato and Timeyah Hardge recorded two interceptions,” Eugene said. “Sophomore Anabella Rafailan stole the show commanding the offense and making an impact on defense. Her contributions to the our win earned her MVP of the game. We look to keep improving!”
