Washington Celebrates P.S. I Love You Day

Washington Primary School is a place where kindness lives all year long. However, on a recent Friday, the school through a party anyway, celebrating “P.S. I Love You Day” with activities and an abundance of acts of kindness.
Third grade teachers Katoe Kalkau and Melis Studdert’s third grade students reflected on ways they can “Be the Light!” at Washington Primary School, in their homes, and in their community.
P.S. I Love You Day is a registered non-profit organization in New York State, dedicated to eradicating the stigma around mental health. “Our mission is to instill hope for those affected by mental illness, fostering a supportive environment and a community where everyone feels welcomed, loved, and supported,” according to its website.
Washington students and faculty adorned stickers that reminded us all to “Be the Light!” and “Share Kindness!”
“Within this year’s design is a lighthouse,” according to the P.A. I Love You Day website. “It stands not only as a beacon in the dark but as a call to action, to reach out to listen and be present for those who feel lost. If you are struggling, please know that you are not alone. Help is available, and hope is real. We encourage all to spread love to the world, others and most importantly, yourself. Always remember you are the gatekeeper of something so much bigger. P.S. We Love You.”
