Huntington senior Titan Elysee won the Suffolk County Track and Field Coaches Association annual scholarship award at the county dinner this week for his “commitment to excellence in the sport, sportsmanship and dedication to serving those less fortunate in the community.”

The Blue Devils’ 4x400m relay of Robbie Campbell, Adan Ntambwe, Titan Elysee, Eric Heinz and alternate Wilmer Benitez earned All-County honors with a win at the recent state qualifier and also a first place showing at the Long Island Elite Championships at St Anthony’s last weekend. Heinz also captured All-County recognition in the 600m dash.

“This year, our throwers got in on the action as well,” head coach Ron Wilson said. Junior Colby Curran earned All-County in the shot put and senior Jean Riboul earned Academic All County in the shot put.

Each state qualifier also garnered a Section XI State Qualifier t-shirt with their respective name on the back. The 4x400m relay team members will be presented with Long Island Championship quarter zip jackets next week.

The New York State Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Arena at Staten Island. Huntington will be in the hunt for All-State medals with Heinz and the 4x400m relay taking center stage.
