Heinz & Campbell Seek Medals at State Track Meet
June 9, 2026
Huntington High School juniors Robbie Campbell and Eric Heinz are headed to the New York State boys’ track and field championships after finishing 1-2 in the pentathlon at the state qualifier at Comsewogue. The two Blue Devils are both seen as possible medalists and All-State performers.
The pentathlon represents the ultimate test of all-around athletic versatility, requiring competitors to master five distinct disciplines.
Heinz runs on the cross country, winter track and spring track teams. Campbell is an All-County soccer player and he also kicks for the Huntington football team and runs winter and spring track.
The pentathlon consists of the 110m hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump and 1500m run. There were 16 entries in the Section XI state qualifier in the event. Heinz won the 1500m with Campbell winning the long jump. Both Blue Devils were close to the top in the other events.
Presented by Taco Bell, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14 at Webster Schroeder High School outside of Rochester.
Huntington is coached by Ronald E. Wilson, Eli Acosta and Kyree Johnson.
