Xavier Garcia Granados is everyone’s favorite, making his way around the hallways and classrooms at Huntington High School with a constant smile on his face. He has lifted up many spirits and brought that same smile to the faces of many classmates and teammates.
“The key to my success stems from a relentless sense of passion, perseverance, discipline, and curiosity for learning, which drives me to explore new ideas and subjects in order to push beyond my own comfort zone and grow in character,” Mr. Garcia said. “I have built a strong foundation from the compassionate understanding and support of my teachers and coaches, the countless opportunities in getting involved in diverse school extracurriculars, and activities, the core subjects and discussions in humanities, particularly history and government, the hands on experiments and discoveries in science, like biology, chemistry, and physics, problem-solving challenges and logical thinking required in math, from algebra, geometry, and calculus; the unforgettable experiences in soccer, wrestling, and track; and the supportive network of friends I’ve cultivated throughout high school.”
Mr. Garcia intends to study biology, health science or psychology at Adelphi University in Garden City.
“I’m very grateful for all Huntington High School has to offer and I’m proud to be a Blue Devil,” the teenager said. “I have consistently achieved High Honor Roll and earned several academic distinctions, including a Certificate of Honor in Global History, the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award, the Seal of Biliteracy and the All-County Academic Soccer Award.”
Alongside his academic pursuits, Mr. Garcia has been actively involved in athletics, participating in soccer for four years, wrestling for three seasons and track and field for one year.
“Beyond sports, I contribute to my school community as a member of the Natural Helpers program and have played the violin in the symphony orchestra for four years,” Mr. Garcia said.
