Fantastic Start to District’s Extended School Year Program

Huntington UFSD’s Extended School Year program at Woodhull Intermediate School is off to a fantastic start. The hallways are filled with happy and excited students each day as the boys and girls seamlessly transitioned into their new classrooms and schedules for the summer session.

Students have been working hard on their maintenance skills while also enjoying summer enrichment activities sponsored by Huntington SEPTA. (Special Education PTA is known by the acronym SEPTA.) Students recently participated in Emoji themed station activities and painted kindness rocks in art class.

SEPTA has a full schedule of events for upcoming Fun Friday activities including a Mad Science Show, trip to the cinema arts theatre and last day of summer school celebration and activities.

“The ESY program is an extension of the regular school year and it is such a special place to be with so many dedicated, caring and nurturing staff supporting our students with their academic and social/emotional development skills,” said Diana Rich, district director of special education and student support services.

Huntington UFSD’s Extended School Year program has been popular with students and their parents for many years. It has met and exceeded its goals over the years as Huntington students have used to the summer program to their academic advantage.
