Class of 2026 Members Capture HARTE Scholarships

Five Huntington High School Class of 2026 members were recently honored by the Huntington Association of Retired Teachers and Employees.

The formal presentation was made by HARTE President Martha Ironman at the high school’s senior scholarships and awards ceremony in the auditorium.

The HARTE scholarship award recipients are held in high esteem by their teachers and classmates. They have all contributed in their own unique way to the high school over the past four years.

Dana Avila Justo (Molloy University), Matthew James (SUNY College at Cobleskill) and Jaipreet Singh (Rochester Institute of Technology) each garnered a $1,000 scholarship and certificate. Mildred Hernandez Veliz (Hofstra University) and Erika Hernandez Veliz (Hofstra University) garnered honorable mention awards.

Mrs. Ironman spoke about each of the HARTE scholarship award recipients and their personal qualities. She also briefly discussed the organization and its continuing commitment to Huntington USFD and its students.

The HARTE scholarship is funded by dues from the organization’s approximately 400 members.
