Blue Devil Wrestling Celebrates its Seniors
January 16, 2026
The Huntington varsity wrestling team celebrated its six seniors earlier this week during a pre-match ceremony in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.
The Blue Devils recognized Joseph Gilhuley, Gevonne Henderson, Walter Kusterbeck, Milton Maldonado, Will Peters and Vincent Pupillo prior to the start of a dual meet against visiting North Babylon.
Huntington head coach Andrew R. Marlow waxed poetic about each of the six seniors, testifying to what they have meant to the team and offering a glimpse into their future plans.
Parents and family members were on hand for the festivities, which included vinyl photo posters affixed to the home side gym wall along with dozens of photos covering each wrestler’s time at Huntington.
Many of the seniors have been involved in the mat program since seventh grade. They have all contributed to a resurgence of the sport in Huntington. The Blue Devils are increasingly competitive and marching toward their previous championship status. It’s an exciting time to be a Huntington wrestler.
As each of the seniors was honored, their teammates and coaches stood nearby. There were plenty of emotions spread around the gym.
Vocalist Caleigh Camarata was flawless while performing the national anthem at center mat under a huge spotlight that illuminate the Blue Devils’ new wrestling mat in the darkened gym.
