Seniors Encouraged to Apply for Scholarships & Grants

Huntington High School counselors are encouraging seniors in the Class of 2026 to apply for as many financial aid and scholarship opportunities as possible to reduce or even eliminate the constantly climbing costs of tuition and fees and room and board.
Descriptions of hundreds of additional scholarships and grants are available in the college and career counseling office.
Here are some of the most popular financial aid programs:
FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid
The FAFSA is the form used by all two- and four-year colleges, universities and career
schools for the awarding of federal student aid www.studentaid.gov
New York State TAP Tuition Assistance Program
TAP is a grant that is available to NYS students attending a SUNY, CUNY, independent not-for-profit, and proprietary degree-granting colleges and universities on a full- or part-time basis. www.hesc.ny.gov/tap
NYS Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program

NYS Excelsior Scholarship
With the Excelsior Scholarship, eligible students can attend a SUNY or CUNY college or university tuition free!
In order to apply, students must meet eligibility requirements, including (but not limited to):
• Be residents of New York State.
• Plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY two or four-year college.
• Complete 30 credits per year towards their program of study.
• Be on track to graduate on time with an Associate's Degree in two years or a Bachelor's Degree in four years.
