Huntington Highlights: Jeanne Dunn is a Huntington UFSD Treasure
January 9, 2026
Jeanne Dunn is one of the Huntington UFSD’s treasures. She has mastered every facet of operations in the human resources office and her wealth of knowledge, unflappable disposition and ability to get things done is the stuff legends are made of and certainly the reason she holds the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Ms. Dunn works closely with Deputy Superintendent Christopher J. Hender and just about every employee has had contact with her at one time or another. As a senior office assistant, she is tops.
“Our HR office once had five people, but today it’s powered by just one — my right and left hand, Jeanne Dunn,” Mr. Hender said. “Efficient, kind, endlessly helpful, and the person I absolutely could not get through the day without.”
Hardworking and extremely helpful, Ms. Dunn always seems to go above and beyond the call of duty. Her wealth of knowledge is hard, if not impossible to match. She keeps moving throughout the day, never getting bogged down with any one task.
Ms. Dunn is a proud graduate of St. John’s University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She began her professional career in the private sector, serving as an assistant marketing manager for Doubleday & Company, followed by The First Society of Computing.
In 1996, Ms. Dunn made the decision to step away from her professional career to focus on raising her two daughters, a role she embraced with the same dedication and care that has defined her professional life.
In 2007, Ms. Dunn re-entered the workforce in the South Huntington UFSD, beginning as a part-time clerk typist in the Adult Education and Arts Office. Her strong organizational skills, professionalism, and natural ability to support others quickly became evident. She was subsequently promoted to a senior office assistant position in the Curriculum & Instruction Department, where she continued to distinguish herself through her reliability and exceptional work ethic.
Ms. Dunn joined the Huntington UFSD on December 8, 2014, and has since become an indispensable member of the district team. Known as one of the friendliest and most approachable individuals in the district, she is always willing to assist colleagues and problem-solve with a positive attitude. She plays a critical role in supporting more than 850 employees across HUFSD, ensuring that staff have the information, resources, and assistance they need to be successful.
“Jeanne’s dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to service truly embody the spirit of Huntington,” Mr. Hender said.
