Trustees Adopt School Calendar for 2026-27

February 11, 2026

The Huntington School Board has adopted a proposed district calendar for the 2026/27 school year. Trustees voted unanimously at their February 9 public meeting to approve the plan, which will have school begin on Tuesday, September 2 and finish on Friday, June 25, 2026.

Teachers and staff are required to be in their respective building for meetings on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1. There will be 180 days of instruction with three other days set aside for faculty conferences. Two contingency days are also built into the plan to address possible school closings due to weather or other emergencies.

Classes will not be held on Friday and Monday, September 4 and September 7 (Labor Day recess), September 21 (Yom Kippur), October 12 (Columbus Day/Indigenous People’s Day), November 3 (Election Day/Superintendent’s Conference Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), November 25-27 (Thanksgiving recess), December 24-January 1 (winter recess), January 18 (Martin Luther King Day), February 15-19 (President’s Day/mid-winter recess), March 9 (Eid al-Fitr), April 19-23 (spring recess), May 17 (Eid al-Adha) and May 31 (Memorial Day).

Should there be an emergency related closure during the school year, classes will be in session on March 29. Should a second make-up day be required, classes will also be in session on May 17.

A copy of the 2026/27 calendar is posted on the home page of the district’s website at www.hufsd.edu. It will also be permanently posted and available. Go to the Calendars tab and scroll down to the link for the one page calendar.
