Science Teacher Luigi Papasidero to be Honored

The Long Island Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education Leadership Association will present Huntington High School science teacher Luigi Papasidero with a 2026 STEM Star Teacher Award during a recognition ceremony on Thursday, May 14.

The STEM Star Award was created to recognize teachers who serve as a beacon of light for our students. Mr. Papasidero was selected for exemplary commitment to the vision of the Long Island Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education Leadership Association, which is equitable student access to high-quality learning experiences in STEM.

Mr. Papasidero is a graduate of Glen Cove High School, where he played on the varsity tennis team, was a National Honor Society member and participated in the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) program. He earned an Advanced Regents Diploma.

Mr. Papasidero obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees at St. John’s University. As an undergraduate he was co-president of Kappa Delta Pi; a Dean’s Scholar and STAR Mentor in the School of Education; and co-chair of the Academic Affairs Committee for the student government. While pursuing a master’s degree he was a student member of the Graduate Academic Council.

At Huntington High School, Mr. Papasidero teaches College Anatomy & Physiology, Forensics and Life Science Biology Support.
