Pit Orchestra Simply Spectacular for “Titanic The Musical”
April 1, 2026
The Huntington High School pit orchestra under the direction of teacher and alum Arielle Harvey was spectacular last weekend, performing admirably during their separate shows of “Titanic The Musical” ensemble version on Friday and Saturday.
Ms. Harvey complimented “the outstanding work of the cast, crew, and pit orchestra students. They all dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to prepare, and their commitment was clearly reflected in all three performances.”
The show came together beautifully over weeks of rehearsals that were parts grueling and exhilarating. The show was director by drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann.
“The musicians demonstrated exceptional skill, focus, and professionalism,” Ms. Harvey said. “Their contribution played a vital role in the overall success of the production, and they have received an overwhelming amount of praise from the community for the quality of their performance. They should be commended for their hard work and for representing the school with such excellence.”
The pit orchestra for the show consisted of Allison Huth, Matthew Jimenez, Olivia Lee and Eva Richter on violin; Kevin Dominguez, Zach Helgeson and Rachel Huth on viola; Gabriel Salinas on cello; Manpreet Kaur on bass; and Alexis Haas and Daniel Simon on percussion.
“Join me in congratulating these talented students on a job well done,” Ms. Harvey said. “We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
Ms. Harvey has been teaching orchestra in Huntington UFSD since September 2023. A proud graduate of Huntington High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens College, where her primary instrument was the violin.
Ms. Harvey is currently pursuing a graduate degree and directing the pit ensemble for the high school musical. She is an active professional member of NAfME, SCMEA and ASTA and is dedicated to building strong musical foundations while fostering a love and appreciation for music in her students.
