Matt Krull Records Hole-in-One in Varsity Debut
September 15, 2026
Huntington sophomore Matt Krull had a varsity debut he will never forget. The teenager showed he belonged with the Blue Devil starting unit. Playing in his first varsity golf match against Northport, Krull stepped to the 155-yard ninth hole at Crab Meadow Golf Course, pulled an 8-iron, and recorded a hole-in-one.
Krull was playing in the final group of the match, which made the moment even more special. As his shot disappeared into the cup, approximately 15 golfers from Huntington and Northport who were watching erupted in celebration.
The ace highlighted an already memorable day for the 10th grader, who also earned the first varsity victory of his career.
“It’s the moment every golfer dreams of, and I was lucky enough to live it,” Krull said. He takes the sport seriously and has worked hard for this spot of the team, one of Suffolk’s best.
“Recording a hole-in-one is a special accomplishment for any golfer, but doing it in his first varsity match, surrounded by teammates and opponents celebrating the shot, made Krull’s achievement one that he and the Huntington golf program will remember for years to come,” veteran Blue Devil head coach Michael Marinello said.
