Huntington UFSD Celebrates Board of Education Appreciation Week
October 19, 2026
In recognition of Board of Education Appreciation Week, the Huntington Union Free School District extends its sincere appreciation to the seven members of its Board of Education: President Theresa Sullivan, Vice President Dr. Annie Michaelian, and trustees Bill Dwyer, Thomas Galvin, Xavier Palacios, Jenna Prada, and Jonathan Weston.
Board members dedicate countless hours to supporting the district’s students, schools, and community. From attending meetings and school events to asking thoughtful questions, listening to community perspectives, and advocating for educational opportunities, their service plays an important role in shaping the future of Huntington UFSD.
Superintendent of Schools Beth McCoy expressed her gratitude for the Board’s dedication, collaborative spirit, and shared commitment to student success.
“I am incredibly grateful to each of our Board members for the time, energy, and commitment they give to Huntington UFSD and, most importantly, to our students,” Ms. McCoy said. “Serving on a Board of Education is a tremendous responsibility that requires thoughtful consideration, a willingness to listen, and a genuine commitment to doing what is best for our children and our community.”
Ms. McCoy emphasized that while Board members bring different perspectives and experiences to their roles, they share a common purpose: ensuring that every student has the opportunity to feel safe, supported, challenged, and proud of their school community.
“What I appreciate most is our shared commitment to keeping students at the center of every conversation and every decision,” Ms. McCoy said. “Even when the conversations are difficult or the path forward is not always clear, we remain focused on our common goals and continue rowing in the same direction. We may not always agree on every stroke, but we are working toward the same destination: moving Huntington forward and creating the best possible opportunities for all of our students.”
Through their leadership, advocacy, and partnership with district administration, the Board of Education helps guide the district’s continued growth and progress while keeping the needs of students and families at the forefront.
“Board service is about so much more than attending meetings and making decisions,” Ms. McCoy added. “It is about being present, listening to our community, asking important questions, and believing in the promise of our students and our schools. It is a privilege to work alongside our Board members, and I sincerely thank each of them for their dedication to Huntington.”
During Board of Education Appreciation Week and always we thank you for your leadership, partnership, and unwavering dedication to our students, our schools, and the Huntington community!
