October 15, 2026

Every school has individuals who help make the building a special place, and at Jack Abrams Intermediate School, Senior Office Assistant Janeen Wasoski is undoubtedly one of those people. With her infectious positivity, welcoming personality and unwavering dedication to students and staff, Ms. Wasoski has become a beloved member of the Huntington school community.

A proud graduate of Huntington High School, Ms. Wasoski returned to her hometown school district in October 2022, joining the Jack Abrams office team as a part-time clerical employee. Her exceptional work ethic, organizational skills and commitment to the school community led to her well-deserved promotion to Senior Office Assistant in March 2026.

Before joining Huntington UFSD, Ms. Wasoski enjoyed an accomplished professional career in advertising, marketing and digital media, holding leadership positions with prominent organizations including The New York Times, ABC News, The Weather Channel and CBS Radio. She earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington, where she studied journalism and geography/meteorology.

While her professional background is impressive, it is the enthusiasm, warmth and genuine care she brings to Jack Abrams each day that have made her such an invaluable member of the school community.

Ms. Wasoski is perhaps best known for her lively and entertaining morning announcements, which have become a highlight of the school day. Whether celebrating a student's birthday, sharing important information or simply adding a little excitement to the morning routine, she has a remarkable ability to bring smiles to the faces of students and staff alike. Her cheerful voice and spirited delivery help create a positive and welcoming school atmosphere.

Beyond the morning announcements, Ms. Wasoski plays an essential role in keeping the school's daily operations running smoothly. From managing student attendance and supporting office operations to assisting with dismissal procedures, helping teachers and supporting school activities, she approaches every responsibility with patience, professionalism and a willingness to go above and beyond.

Jack Abrams Intermediate School Principal Yenifer Mercado was quick to recognize the tremendous impact Ms. Wasoski has on the building and nominated her for this districtwide recognition.

"Janeen is a vibrant and welcoming presence in our building, consistently approaching every situation with a positive attitude and a willingness to help," said Principal Mercado. "Her kindness toward students and staff does not go unnoticed, and she goes above and beyond her daily responsibilities to support our entire school community."

Ms. Mercado also highlighted the personal connections Ms. Wasoski develops with those around her.

"While many know Janeen for her cheerful birthday announcements, it is her genuine care for others, positive outlook and invaluable interpersonal skills that truly make her indispensable at our school."

Outside of her responsibilities at Jack Abrams, Ms. Wasoski has also shared her passion for health and fitness as a Zumba instructor, including teaching Zumba Gold classes through Huntington's Adult Education program. Her enthusiasm for bringing people together and creating positive experiences extends well beyond the school office.

The Huntington Union Free School District proudly recognizes Janeen Wasoski for her outstanding dedication, exceptional school spirit and the kindness she shares with students, colleagues and families each day. Her contributions serve as an important reminder that the people who work behind the scenes often make some of the biggest differences in the lives of others.

Congratulations to Janeen Wasoski on being selected for this Huntington Highlight!
