HUFSD Leadership Team Engages in Professional Learning at LEAD LI Fall Conference

October 7, 2026

Huntington UFSD Superintendent Beth McCoy and members of the district’s administrative team recently participated in the 2026 LEAD LI Fall Conference, an engaging day of professional learning, collaboration and reflection focused on strengthening educational leadership and student success. The conference provided administrators with opportunities to learn from educational leaders and colleagues while exploring emerging practices that can positively impact teaching and learning across the district.

The conference featured a keynote address from Angelique Johnson-Dingle, NYSED Deputy Commissioner for P-12 Instructional Support, as well as a wide range of workshops and research roundtables addressing current topics in education, including instructional leadership, student voice, artificial intelligence, school culture, Portrait of a Graduate initiatives, authentic learning experiences and student success.

Huntington was also represented as a presenter during the session provided by Dr. Rob Wottawa, Director of Fine and Performing Arts and Dr. Ricky Papandrea, Director of School Counseling and Testing titled, “Developing Authentic Pathways to Align with Portrait of a Learner.” The session highlighted Huntington UFSD’s work developing authentic pathways, including the district’s Individualized Academic and Applied Pathways and Seals, and aligning these opportunities with the attributes identified in the Portrait of a Graduate.

“Professional learning is one of the most important investments we can make in ourselves as educational leaders,” said Superintendent Beth McCoy. “Opportunities such as LEAD LI allow us to learn from others, reflect on our own practices and bring new ideas back to our schools and classrooms. Ultimately, that growth benefits our students, our staff and the entire Huntington community.”

The LEAD LI conference offered our administrative team valuable opportunities to connect, collaborate and gain new perspectives. Huntington UFSD remains committed to continuous professional growth and to ensuring that our leaders have the knowledge, resources and inspiration to support our schools and provide meaningful opportunities for every student.
