Geometry Students Explore Angle Relationships Through Task Cards
October 5, 2026
Students in Ms. Regan’s ninth grade Geometry class recently engaged in an interactive task card activity to review and strengthen their understanding of parallel lines cut by a transversal.
Working in pairs, students rotated through a series of eight stations, spending approximately three minutes at each station. Each task card included two questions, giving students the opportunity to solve a total of 16 problems while identifying missing angles and analyzing the relationships between angles formed by parallel lines and a transversal.
The laminated task cards served as both a learning tool and a recording tool, allowing students to work directly on the cards as they moved through the activity. Students collaborated with their partners, discussed their mathematical thinking, and applied their knowledge to determine solutions.
At the conclusion of the lesson, students shared their strategies and approaches with the class. The activity provided an opportunity for students to practice important Geometry concepts while remaining actively and cognitively engaged throughout the lesson.
Ms. Regan’s task card activity demonstrates how collaborative, hands-on learning can help students deepen their mathematical understanding while developing their ability to explain and communicate their thinking.
