The Girl’s Varsity Tennis team is the 2026 Division 1 champions.

 The Blue Devils have locked up 1st place in one of the strongest divisions in Suffolk County. With a competitive 4-3 victory on Tuesday against 2nd place Northport, the Lady Blue Devils are expecting to be seeded very high in the upcoming Suffolk County team playoffs beginning on Thursday, October 7th on the Ron Cuppernull courts.

Tuesday's match was expected to be a close one and it did not disappoint. With the team composed of 8 seniors, led by Senior captains Amanda Ganley and Kate Gordon, took an early lead against the Tigers with Ganley winning at 1st singles 6-2, 6-3. Northport took the lead back by winning 2nd and 3rd doubles in straight sets. Senior Fiona Lynch and Junior Violet Palacios at 2nd doubles and Senior Andie DeGioia and Junior Juliet Johnson at 3rd doubles fought hard but to no avail. Senior Mia Einemann breezed to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at 3rd singles, tying up the team score at 2-2 with three matches to go. At approximately the same time the 4th doubles team of Senior Gracie Kline and Olivia Puccio won at 4th doubles 6-3, 6-4 and Senior Gordon won at 2nd singles 6-1, 6-3 to seal the victory. The 1st doubles team of seniors Ella Palatnek and Grace Callery were defeated by a highly ranked Northport team.

It was another 4-3 victory for this team, four in all, that showed dedication, perseverance, mental toughness and cooperation for Coach Jamie Fishlow’s team. Coach Fishlow is now in his 37th year of coaching the girls. This close knit bunch also includes Juniors Bryce Gilroy, Natalie, Mullaly and Sophia Curley with Sophomores Abigail Arelt and Kiera Lynch rounding out the roster.

Fishlow stated, “Everyone on the roster has contributed to a victory in one way or another. The team has been selfless with the will to do whatever it takes to be successful. While winning they have shown responsibility, respect and cooperation. We’re looking forward to the playoffs”.
