Jack Abrams School Hosts Inspiring Career Day for Students
May 27, 2026
Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School students recently had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of careers during the building’s annual Career Day event. Parents and family members volunteered their time to visit classrooms and share insights into their professions, helping students make meaningful connections between their education and future career possibilities.
Throughout the day, students engaged with presenters representing diverse career fields, including healthcare, law enforcement, engineering, business, technology, education, and public service. Presenters discussed their educational pathways, daily responsibilities, workplace experiences, and the skills needed to succeed in their professions. Students were encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussions about career interests and future goals.
Career Day provided students with valuable exposure to real-world career opportunities while reinforcing the importance of academic achievement, problem-solving, communication, and perseverance. The event also aligned with the school’s STEM-focused mission by highlighting the many ways science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are integrated into today’s workforce.
“We are incredibly grateful to all of the parents and family members who volunteered their time to speak with our students,” said Dr. Ricky Papandrea, Director of School Counseling and Testing, K-12 for the Huntington Union Free School District. “Providing students with opportunities to learn directly from professionals helps broaden their understanding of future possibilities and inspires them to begin thinking about their own college and career pathways at an early age.”
The school community extends its sincere appreciation to all presenters for helping make Career Day an engaging and memorable experience for students.
