May 21, 2026
Grace Oliva is an articulate, happy, positive-thinking young woman who has really found her groove at Huntington High School. She is an outstanding student academically and plans to study chemistry at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
“The key to my success has been not giving up, even when classes start to get hard,” Ms. Oliva said. “I keep studying and trying, even when I feel tired and burnt out and I’m never afraid to ask for help.”
Ms. Oliva owns a weighted academic grade average of 97 compiled over the past four years. She has performed very well on a long list of Advanced Placement courses and is known to teachers as a very hard worker with insightful opinions. “She contributes to all of her classes,” one teacher said.
“One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about high school is playing sports with my teammates,” Ms. Oliva said. “I’ve also enjoyed the feeling of getting good grades after working hard to achieve them. Some of the highlights of my extracurricular activities include playing lacrosse and being part of the team that won the Long Island championship. I also played tennis, where I enjoyed playing matches and spending time with my best friends.”
Ms. Oliva made the girls’ tennis and lacrosse teams better by her presence. In the winter she managed the basketball team. Throughout the year she has worn a smile on her face. It has lifted everyone up.
“Being part of the National Honor Society gave me the chance to participate in community service that allowed me to be a part of a cause bigger than myself,” Ms. Oliva said.
Ms. Oliva wins new fans wherever she goes. Her classmates believe history will be repeating itself soon as Ms. Olivia prepares to begin a new stage of her life at Wake Forest. She is well positioned to impress.
