“My key to success has been proactive time management, a strong support system and my own motivation,” Ms. Balm said. “I worked tirelessly throughout high school to excel in all of my classes by staying motivated and keeping my goals at the forefront of my mind, while also recognizing the support of those around me and the organization that helped me succeed. I have really enjoyed working alongside my peers in challenging subjects and collaborating to combine our skills to succeed.”

The teenager has compiled a weighted academic grade average of 97 entering the final months of her senior year. “I also enjoyed taking multiple business elective courses that prepared me for college and gave me the opportunity to learn new mindsets and strategies,” Ms. Balm said. “I particularly enjoyed being the treasurer and vice president of the National English Honor Society.”

The senior has been a contributing member of Huntington’s Habitat for Humanity chapter, helping to raise the monies the club needed to fund the purchase of a house that it recently donated.

Ms. Balm has also been an active member of the Social Studies Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and National Honor Society. She’s earned top grades across every academic area.

Ms. Balm intends to study economic consulting at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington.
