January 14, 2026
Superintendent Beth McCoy updated the Huntington School Board on the district’s plans to reorganize Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School and Woodhull Intermediate School beginning next September with incoming fourth graders. The update was provided during a public meeting of trustees on Monday evening.
Once the plan is fully implemented, Flower Hill School and Washington School students will attend Jack Abrams School and Southdown School and Jefferson School students will attend Woodhull School. This will begin in September with fourth graders.
Mrs. McCoy said that siblings will be grandfathered in at the current intermediate building upon request and to the greatest extent possible. Special circumstances could apply based upon student needs and programs.

District officials are incorporating any costs associated with the reorganization into the 2026/27 budget. Transportation for intermediate clubs is being explored from a budgetary standpoint.
“A letter will be sent at the end of January requesting parents to submit their child’s name if they would like their child to attend the school their sibling attended, rather than the school of location based on their address,” Mrs. McCoy said. “Responses will be due back at the end of February. Grade four orientations will take place at the end of August for incoming Jack Abrams and Woodhull students.”
