January 5, 2026

Huntington junior Norah Moskowitz delivered an outstanding performance in the 600m at the North Shore Invitational at the Armory in Manhattan, jumping out of the third heat finish fourth overall in a highly competitive field of 273 athletes in a time of 1:39.55.

Moskowitz’s effort resulted in a 2.5 second personal best, vaulting her to ranking of No. 2 in Suffolk and No. 17 in New York State.

“Norah is a hard-working young lady who has taken on a demanding role this season,” first year head coach Dennis Scruggs said. “She has split her training between distance with Coach [Alyssa] Salese and sprints with myself, and it’s been impressive to watch how she has embraced and managed that challenge. Her growth and competitive mindset have been outstanding.”

Moskowitz has been on a mission during the winter indoor season, consistently competing with confidence and composure. In addition to her success in the 600m, she has dropped six seconds in the 1000m, giving her versatility and legitimate state-level options across events ranging from the 400m to the 1000m.

In other notable action for the Blue Devil girls, Anis Oyuela finished ninth in shot put in a field of 101 throwers with a toss of 30-1.5 feet. Jesley Martinez Canales placed No. 12 in the event with a throw of 29-8.5 feet.
