Unforgettable Cultural Event at HHS on March 4
February 5, 2026
Huntington High School is finalizing plans to host a Celebration of Culture on March 4 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium. It is being designed “to celebrate the diverse community through food and performance.”
“We are encouraging students to host a table from their heritage country and either bring food to share or host an activity,” said Spanish Honor Society Advisor Nadine Araoz, who is on the event’s planning committee. “Students can also provide entertainment if they are interested. Teachers are welcome and encouraged to attend and/or host a table (you can team up with students, if you like). It is a fun night, sampling different ethnic foods, learning about various cultures, and being entertained by talented performers.”
The event was held last March for the first time. It recognized the rich diversity of cultures with over-the-top food choices, music, dancing and artifacts. Students and faculty members staffed tables representing their heritage and brought food to share. There were 27 tables representing 20 different countries spanning the globe. Many families and community members also joined in on the fun.
Senior Mia Molina Baptista sang the beautiful French song, “La Vie en Rose” and United Amigos club members performed a Latino dance. The celebration was timed with World Language Week, which saw that department’s teachers decorate the hallways.
“Our first celebration of culture was a huge success,” Ms. Brown said. “Thank you to the amazing committee on an excellent job. Students, families and staff were treated to tasty delights from a variety of different cultures.”
