Update on Huntington UFSD Homecoming Week 2026

After the long summer layoff, the Huntington community is just beginning to turn its attention to the looming new school year, including Homecoming Week in October. Many folks missed earlier announcements that included details of this year’s celebration.

Homecoming Day is Saturday, October 17 with the parade through the village stepping off at 11:30 a.m. and the centerpiece football game against Newfield kicking off at 1:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

There will be a bonfire and festival in the high school parking lot on Thursday (October 15) at 5:30 p.m. A pep rally for students is planned for Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. Students will build parade floats throughout the day on Friday and into the evening. The varsity and JV football teams will hold a joint dinner on Friday night in the school cafeteria.

Students will be asked to nominate classmates for Homecoming king and queen and vote electronically on the choices. Principal Rochelle C. Brown and Superintendent Beth McCoy will crown the royals at the pep rally. They will also be announced to the Homecoming Day crowd at halftime of the football game.

Varsity fall teams and athletes will be introduced at the pep rally and marching band will also perform. The Blue Devil marching band will also put on a halftime show at the Homecoming Day football game.

The Blue Devil boys’ varsity soccer team will play Babylon on Friday (October 16) at 6:15 p.m. under the Alumni Field lights.

Teams, clubs, PTAs and other school organizations are welcome to march in Saturday morning’s parade. It will wind its way down Main Street and up New York Avenue to the high school. The marching band will lead the parade. It will include the royal court, district officials and hundreds of parents and students.

There will be shuttle bus service from the high school to the village the day of the parade. The winner of the class float competition will also be announced at halftime of the football game.
