Huntington’s Freshman Seminar on August 24-26

Huntington High School’s annual Freshman Seminar is set for Monday-Wednesday, August 24-26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Its scheduling is such that it will not interfere with varsity or JV tryouts and practices.

The red carpet will be rolled out for members of the Class of 2030. There will be campus tours and introductions of key faculty and staff members, including department leaders. Seminar participants will be about to learn about the clubs, sports, societies and overall student life that have made Huntington High School so popular with students over the years.

The seminar will even include workshops on time management along with study tips to get started successfully and to make this coming year and all four years of high school a time filled with achievement and personal satisfaction.

The program also includes a free lunch and all sorts of fun activities. Last summer, 186 incoming freshmen got a jump start on the new school year during the program. Now in its thirteenth year, the seminar encompasses everything from exploring the building and practicing study skills to organizational tips.

The program’s goal is to calm the angst about being in high school. Thirteen teachers staffed last year’s program. They were assisted by 13 sophomores, juniors and seniors including Heather Herman, Belinda Velasquez, Sabrina Bijou, Emely Herrera Rivas, Arly Morrica Portillo, Daniela Garcia, Anis Oyvela, Jesley Martinez, Heileen Torres, Katie Sorto, Elliot Manu, Leila O’Toole and Sophie Hoffman.
