Elective Fair Set at Huntington High School
October 15, 2025
Every student at Huntington High School should make a note to visit the Elective Fair currently being organized by the guidance department. The fair will be held on Thursday, November 6 during all lunch periods.
“The Elective Fair gives students a chance to discover new interests, connect with teachers, and make informed choices about their academic pathways,” said Dr. Ricky V. Papandrea, district director of school counseling and testing, K–12. “We encourage all students to stop by and learn about the many engaging courses Huntington has to offer.”
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our departments to showcase the elective courses available to students as they prepare to make selections for the 2026–2027 academic year,” said Dr. Ricky V. Papandrea, Jr., district director of school counseling and testing.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the wide range of elective courses available across every department — from the arts, physical education and world languages to business, technology and social studies.
Dozens of elective courses spanning every academic discipline are available to students. Teachers and students currently taking the courses will be available at the fair to discuss the classes and answer questions. It makes sense for every student to visit the fair prior to submitting their scheduling requests for next year.
Department directors and chairs are working with teachers to develop engaging displays and preparing materials that will effectively promote the electives in their respective academic area.
“This is a valuable chance for students to learn more about the diverse opportunities available to them and make informed choices for the coming year,” Dr. Papandrea said.
Tables will be arranged along the windows by the cafeteria for each department’s display. Counselors will be on hand, too, with answers to even the most challenging questions.
