Battle of the Undefeated on Friday Night at East Islip

The Huntington and East Islip football teams will collide tonight (Friday) for a battle between the undefeated. Both squads are 3-0 in Suffolk Division II. Kickoff in East Islip is set for 6 p.m.

Huntington topped visiting Centereach last week, 56-13 to remain unbeaten. The Blue Devils led 42-7 at halftime. East Islip cruised past Smithtown East, 48-7 in the third week of the season.
Last Saturday, Huntington was again on fire. Yasir Jones rushed 19 times for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Jacob Guzik completed five-of-six passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Jack Kamenstein caught four passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Chase Northrop hauled in a 26 yard touchdown pass.
Jones, Guzik and Kamenstein are all among the statistical leaders on Long Island in their respective categories. Jones has rushed 65 times for 523 yards and 10 touchdowns. Guzik has completed 18-of-32 passes for 474 yards and six touchdowns. Kamenstein has 15 receptions for 411 yards and five touchdowns.
Huntington also played a great game defensively against the Cougars. Wesley Previle had six tackles and assisted on two others. Frank Algieri recorded five tackles, including one for a loss and an assist. Will Peters made two tackles and recovered two fumbles. Zayvion McCoy had four tackles and an assist. Chase Northrop made two tackles, deflected a pass and intercepted a pass that he ran back 15 yards for a touchdown. Titan Elysee had a quarterback sack.
Blake Bender and Matt Ross made tackles that went for a loss. Placekicker Max Carino converted all eight extra point attempts. Placekicker Luca Terrado had three touchbacks on kickoffs and placekicker Robbie Campbell also recorded a touchback.
Huntington’s second half of the season schedule includes an away game next Friday night at Connetquot at 6 p.m. and then back to back Saturday afternoon home games against Northport (October. 18) and Bellport (October 25). The final game of the regular season will be placed at Newfield on Thursday, October 30 at 6 p.m.
