Perfect Attendance Celebrated at Huntington High School

November 17, 2025

Huntington High School officials honored students with perfect attendance during the first marking period at a recent breakfast celebration that included administrators, faculty and support staff members.

Officials provided students with short inspirational remarks before congratulating them for “showing up” every day for ten weeks. There were bagels, cookies, milk, water and juice to enjoy.

“Attendance is more than just being physically present; it’s about showing up for oneself,” Mrs. Avelli said. “It reflects dedication to goals, commitment to responsibilities, and pride in the work being done. Consistent attendance demonstrates that time, growth, and obligations matter. It’s a daily choice to honor intentions and keep moving forward, even when challenges arise.”

The Most Improved category was specifically created to recognize students “who have shown significant, positive changes in their attendance for the quarter.”

“This is year two of our attendance celebration initiative and it was heartwarming to see so many students that we celebrated last year start off another year in such a positive manner,” Principal Rochelle C. Brown said. “This year we included an additional component of recognizing our night school students as we continue to engage our students in best practices. None of this would be possible without the support of an amazing team of individuals from the assistant principals, deans, counselors, social workers, school psychologists, attendance clerical staff, neighborhood aide and director of guidance.”
