Environmental Club’s Recycling Program Up & Running

November 7, 2025

Huntington High School’s Environmental Club has had an active fall, organizing its activities for the year and getting a recycling program up and running.

The club has been meeting every other Friday in Room 146 with a lot of new members. The club is led by Emma Boyle (president), Emma Polinsky (vice president), Emma Marsala (treasurer), Olivia Lee (recording secretary), Rachel Huth (attendance officer) and Ana Colman Britez (public relations).

“We had a really successful ice cream sale that everyone enjoyed and helped raise funds for our group,” faculty advisor Anna Jao said. “We’ve also been keeping up with our recycling project every other Friday to help the environment and keep our school clean. It’s been a great month full of teamwork and participation from everyone.”

The club’s interest in continuing to pursue various projects centered on sustainability and Earth-friendly advocacy in an age of rapid climate change and threats to the habitats of thousands of species also continues unabated.

“Up next we will be looking to acquire more recycling bins to put into more classrooms and organizing out clothing swap that we will be hosting in December,” Ms. Jao said.

New members are welcome at any time. Just stop by the next meeting. Students say the environmental club is a great way to meet people who are passionate about not only environmental sustainability, but the wellbeing of their community as well.
