Underground Spirit Week at Finley Middle School
November 3, 2025
J. Taylor Finley Middle School teachers displayed their school spirit in full force during Underground Spirit Week.
“An Underground Spirit Week not only builds morale among teachers and staff, it also gives students a laugh when they finally put two and two together and figure out what’s going on,” according to the PTO Today website. “Plus, it's a great bonding activity, especially for staff members who don’t normally participate in team-building activities.”
Finley sprang to life as fun enveloped the building. “Each day brought a new theme; Flannel Day, Blackout Day, Pink Day, 80s Day and Halloween and the staff embraced them all with enthusiasm and creativity,” Finley Principal Traci Roethel said. “The participation from teachers was fantastic, filling the halls with energy and excitement. Students eagerly looked forward to seeing what their teachers would wear next, making each day a fun and engaging celebration of Finley pride.”
Such weeks are growing in popularity across the country. “You'll be surprised how much an Underground Spirit Week can bring together your school community; teachers, students, and staff members, while everyone gets in on the fun,” states the PTO Today website.
“We’re so happy with all the awesome participation and school spirit from our staff,” Assistant Principal Alexis Estrada said.
As the first marking period draws to a close, Finley students are more motivated and determined than ever to reach all of their academic and co-curricular goals.
