Blue Devil Boys’ Track Continues to Evolve
December 19, 2025
This comes under the heading of “to be determined,” but this could be a very successful winter season for the Huntington varsity boys’ indoor track and field team. The Blue Devils took another step in the process at last weekend’s Nassau Coaches Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
Several thousand athletes entered the competition and Huntington finished near the top in several events, showcasing the diversity and depth of a squad that is far from its potential peak.
Huntington is coached by Ronald E. Wilson, Eli Acosta and Kyree Johnson. It’s a staff that is hard to match. Steadily and with a sure hand all three coaches have been whipping the Blue Devils into a first rate force in the running, throwing and jumping events.
In the Nassau Coaches Invitational:
• Titan Elysee finished second in the 300m dash in a field that included 171 runners.
• Eric Heinz placed third in the 600m run in a field that featured 89 runners.
• Robbie Campbell finished third in a field of 11 in triple jump.
• Jean Riboul (third place), Matthew Ross (fourth place), Banny Soc Concua (sixth place) and Zachary Matthews (eighth place) finished in the top eight in a field that included 60 throwers.
• Huntington’s 4x200m and 4x400m relays both ran well for early in the season.
• Zachary Matthews (40-06 feet) cracked the 40 foot distance in weight throw.
“The team is coming along quite nicely,” Wilson said. “The commitment to training is paying off in every event. The coaches are pleased with the work put in and the work ethic displayed by these athletes. It’s a grind, but it’s also fun to see the progress and overall improvement.”
