Jefferson Winter Songfest Packs School Gym

December 19, 2025

Jefferson Primary School always stands tall with its proverbial head held high. That’s the way it should be for a place that has been educating Huntington kids since September 1962. Thousands have been taught in the building’s classrooms and with more than can be counted moving on to accomplish great things in every walk of life.

Among the many talents of today’s Jefferson students are ones covering music. These boys and girls love a good tune and they especially enjoying singing along with the music. Those abilities were on display on Thursday as parents and family members packed the school gym.

“Today we proudly hosted another successful annual Winter Songfest featuring our kindergarten through third-grade students,” Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said. “Our students did a beautiful job performing their winter songs on the risers, filling the room with joy and holiday spirit. A special thank you to our music teacher, Ashley Berrell, for planning and orchestrating such wonderful performances and to Andrea Floro for designing the winter scenery that created the perfect backdrop for today’s celebration.”

Huntington UFSD’s central office administrative corps led by Superintendent Beth McCoy turned out for the delightful performances.

“While many contributed to this special event, the true stars of the performances were our Jefferson Primary School students,” Ms. Capitulo-Saide said. “Warm wishes to our families for a happy holiday season and a healthy new year!”
