Elizabeth James Says Goodbye to Huntington High School

August 13, 2025

Elizabeth James has been one of Huntington High School’s finest students and athletes over the past four years, winning academic and athletic accolades and helping the mock trial team win Suffolk championships while also serving in executive positions with the student council.

Ms. James plans to study nursing at Hofstra University while also running for the college on a scholarship. She has been an incredible competitor in track and field for the Blue Devils as well as being a top gymnast with the combined Huntington-Harborfields team.

“My time as a Blue Devil has instilled in me a relentless work ethic and a never-give-up attitude, which extends far beyond the sports field,” Ms. James said. “The emphasis on always giving it 100 percent, whether on the track or the balance beam, has taught me the importance of dedication and perseverance in all aspects of life. The friendships and connections I've made through Blue Devil sports are invaluable, providing a strong support system and a sense of belonging. The guidance and mentorship from amazing coaches and the unwavering support from the athletic director have not only shaped my athletic career but have also contributed to my personal growth and development.”

An Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, Ms. James served as vice president of the National Honor Society and student council.

“Being a Blue Devil also meant being part of a community,” Ms. James said. “The support from fellow teammates, teachers and the town made every meet and competition feel special. This sense of belonging has instilled in me a strong sense of loyalty and pride. I’ve learned the importance of giving back and contributing to something bigger than myself.”
