September 15, 2025
Nine Huntington High School juniors and seniors have been named to the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education - Suffolk chapter’s All-County performing groups that will take the stage at the All-County Festival concert at Hauppauge in November.
Rachel Huth (Viola; Alto 2), Lily Wasoski (Soprano 1), Michael DiVincenzo (Tenor 2), Sena Knopf (Bb Clarinet), Alexander Tine (Bass 1 Voice), Dana Saramago (French Horn), Jessica Lee (Soprano 1), Daniel Simon (Percussion) and Ella Van Horn (Soprano)
“The outstanding achievement by our students is directly related to the dedication to music literacy by our teachers,” said Dr. Robert J. Wottawa II, district director of fine and performing arts. “Our student’s perseverance allows them to receive constructive feedback so they can improve their musicianship during their solo preparation. Their teachers and parents must be very proud of each child.”
The mission of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education is to provide a source of communication, development, and support for all leaders responsible for facilitating the music education of the students of New York State.
Huntington UFSD prides itself on offering an exceptional music program with a long list of performance opportunities. Students have been capturing awards for more than 100 years.
New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education’s All-County selections represents the “best of the best” seniors only across Suffolk County. These students are selected based on their All-State NYSSMA scores and represent the highest achieving senior musicians.
The students will have three rehearsals in November prior to the November 14 concert at Hauppauge High School. “It is a great honor to have one or two students and we have nine, including one who qualified for two separate performing groups,” Dr. Wottawa exclaimed.
All of the Huntington honorees have been immersed in the district’s music program for many years. The teenagers said that music is a big part of their daily life.
