Commanding Performance by Jack Abrams STEM Students

October 23, 2025

English-as-a-New Language students at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School were recently recognized for their achievement on the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test.

“More than 80 students and their families joined us this morning in the STEM auditorium to celebrate our students and learn about the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test,” Principal Donna Moro said.

Students were recognized for their outstanding achievement on the NYSESLAT exam, which measures language proficiency across five levels from “Entering” to “Commanding.”  Those who advanced to a higher proficiency level received a certificate of achievement, celebrating their progress.

“Of the students recognized, we had 17 students achieve the highest level of achievement,” Ms. Moro said. “These students were invited to apply for the Language Leader Program, offering them a unique opportunity to further develop and showcase their language skills while learning important leadership skills.”

Upcoming events at the school include:

• Trunk or Treat will be held at Jack Abrams School on Thursday, October 30

• The PTA will meet on Wednesday, November 12 at 6 p.m.

• The Book Fair will be held on Monday-Wednesday, November 17-19.
