Huntington Trustees Recognize AP Scholars

Dozens of high performing Huntington High School students were recognized during the Huntington School Board’s public meeting on Monday night at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School auditorium.
The students have excelled in the Advanced Placement course program offered at the high school. Every fall, the AP program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams during the most recent school year.
Huntington High School Principal Rochelle C. Brown and District Director of School Counseling and Testing, K-12 made a presentation to trustees regarding AP exam results. During the 2025 testing period, 453 students sat for 1,122 exams. The district had 83 AP Scholars, 33 AP Scholars with Honors, 58 AP Scholars with Distinction and 11 AP Capstone Diplomas
Huntington School Board President Xavier Palacios, Vice President Theresa Sullivan, trustees Kelly Donovan, Thomas Galvin, Annie Michaelian, Jenna Prada and Jon Weston were joined by Superintendent Beth McCoy, Deputy Superintendent Christopher Hender and Assistant Superintendents Dr. Rubie Harris and Brenden Cusack in offering the teenage scholars congratulations on a job well done.
AP Scholar Awards come in different levels and types, including:
• AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
• AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
• AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
