Jack Corcoran Wins Suffolk Conference I Golf Crown
October 20, 2025
The Huntington boys golf team has put together another impressive season, finishing with a 7–3 regular season record and claiming second place in League 2, one of the most competitive leagues in Suffolk County.
League champion Half Hollow Hills East narrowly edged out the Blue Devils for the top spot, but Huntington’s consistency and depth throughout the season proved they were one of the county’s elite teams.
Huntington carried its strong regular season into the Section XI Conference I Tournament at Pine Hills Golf Club, where the team finished third overall, securing a berth in the county team playoffs. Competing on one of the toughest and longest courses on Long Island, the Blue Devils handled the pressure and delivered when it mattered most.
The highlight of the tournament—and the season—came from Jack Corcoran, who captured the Conference I individual championship with a season-low round of two over par 75 on a windy and demanding day at Pine Hills.
Corcoran opened his round with three straight bogeys, but responded with incredible resilience. He played the final 15 holes one under par, showcasing mental toughness and composure beyond his years.
What made his performance even more remarkable was his journey back to form. Corcoran missed four matches in the middle of the season due to a back injury, but worked tirelessly to return and peaked at the perfect moment.
“Jack’s performance is the perfect example of toughness,” said head coach Michael Marinello, who is assisted by volunteer Robert Colvin. “A lot of players would have folded after three early bogeys, but Jack trusted his game, stayed composed and proved why he’s one of the best players in the conference.”
Huntington will be well-represented at the Suffolk County Individual Championship, which is also being held at Pine Hills Golf Club, which Corcoran, Brady LaCosta and Will Donaghy all advancing. “Their advancement is a testament to the talent and depth within the program,” Marinello said.
From top to bottom, Huntington showed competitive fire all season long. The team defeated several strong opponents, bounced back from adversity and proved difficult to beat—especially on its home course.
With strong leadership, improving young players, and a proven ability to compete with the best in Suffolk County, the Blue Devils head into the playoffs with confidence and momentum.
Huntington has once again established itself as one of the premier golf programs in the county—and they’re not done yet.
