Nancy Allard Named Director of Privacy & Chief Information Officer

Longtime Huntington UFSD faculty member Nancy Allard has been named the district’s privacy officer, chief information officer and director of instructional technology and library services.
Ms. Allard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a minor in psychology from Adelphi University. She obtained a Master of Science in Education degree at St. John’s University and a Master of Science in Educational Administration at the College of New Rochelle.
Prior to coming to Huntington UFSD, Ms. Allard was a third grade teacher in New York City District 24 in Queens from 1995-1998. She taught third grade in Huntington from 1998-2003 at which time she became the district’s data and grant coordinator and the assistant chief information officer.
In her new position, Ms. Allard is responsible for overseeing the district’s compliance with data privacy laws, managing technology infrastructure, leading instructional technology initiatives, and providing leadership and support to the library media specialists. The director reports directly to the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and works collaboratively with all district stakeholders.
More specifically, Ms. Allard’s position will encompass:
District Privacy Officer
• Serve as the district’s designated Data Protection Officer under New York State Education Law 2-d and related regulations.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal student data privacy laws, including FERPA, COPPA, and NYSED Part 121.
• Develop, implement, and maintain district-wide data security and privacy policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with legal counsel, vendors, and district staff regarding data protection agreements (DPAs).
• Respond to data privacy incidents, conduct investigations, and prepare required notifications and reports.
• Oversee technology infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration in partnership with the Technology Department.
• Supervise district technology staff and coordinate with BOCES and external providers on network services and hardware/software procurement.
• Develop and manage technology budgets, grant opportunities, and resource allocations.

• Assist administrators by creating reports and analyzing data.
Instructional Technology
• Lead the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction to enhance teaching and learning.
• Design and deliver professional development in instructional technology for teachers, administrators, and support staff.
• Oversee and evaluate technology mentors, if applicable.
• Support schools in identifying technology needs and aligning resources to instructional goals.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for classroom use.
• Coordinate districtwide educational software acquisition, licensing, and support.
Library Media Specialists
• Provide leadership and supervision for the district’s library media specialists.
• Support the development and implementation of K–12 library media curriculum aligned with New York State standards.
• Promote information literacy, digital citizenship, and equitable access to print and digital resources.
• Ensure library collections are diverse, current, and reflective of district priorities.
• Facilitate collaboration between library media specialists, teachers, and administrators to support instructional programs.
• Other duties as assigned by the superintendent or their designee.
