Emma Barch Scores Game Winner Off Corner Kick

The Huntington girls’ soccer team won its third consecutive game on Friday when Emma Barch broke a 2-2 tie and scored off a corner kick by Cameron Smith with 15 seconds remaining to give the Blue Devils a 3-2 victory over visiting Connetquot.

Huntington trailed 2-1 at halftime, but rallied for a pair of second half goals. Besides Barch, Claire Dello-Iacono and Bella Duke scored goals. Smith, Norah Moskowitz and Madyn Kalb all picked up assists. Goalkeeper Wynne Franciscovich recorded 11 saves.
The victory evened Huntington’s record at 5-5. The Blue Devil winning streak includes victories over Walt Whitman (6-1) and Bay Shore (4-0). Huntington’s remaining regular season games are against Lindenhurst, Brentwood, Longwood, Sachem North, North Babylon and William Floyd. Teams with records of .500 or better qualify for the playoffs.
Barch now has three goals and two assists this fall. Smith has five assists. Duke (9g; 3a), Moskowitz (3g; 1a), Kalb (3g; 5a) and Dello-Iacono (3g) are also among Huntington’s statistical leaders. Franciscovich has stopped 56 shots.
Lia Zivkovic, Jolie Weinschreider, Ava McDonald, Justina Hlenski, Violetta Fox, Hanna Boyle and Angela Abbatiello comprise Huntington’s defensive unit. Cameron Smith, Kaitlyn Purcell, Norah Moskowitz, Ashley Moreno Garcia, Alessandra Leotta, Julia Hotine, Aubrie Godin, Claire Dello-Iacono and Emma Barch are at midfield. Madyn Kalb Erika Hernandez-Veliz and Bella Duke are strikers. Wynne Franciscovich and Brianna Purcell are goalkeepers.
