Finley Food Drive Benefits Hungry Residents

November 19, 2025

J. Taylor Finley Middle School students, teachers, support staff and parents proudly upheld a tradition of community service with the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, collecting essential food items to support the Helping Hands Rescue Mission in Huntington Station.

This year's effort saw an extraordinary outpouring of generosity from the Finley student body and the local community, which led to a massive collection of non-perishable food items. The success of the drive was powered by the dedication and collaboration of several key student organizations: Finley Student Government, National Junior Honor Society and the Community Club all led by Keith Miller, Dana Rogan, Amanda Shaffer, Jessica Mollica, and Ingrid Moreira.

“The turnout for the collection event at Stop & Shop in Huntington was truly amazing, demonstrating the deep commitment of Finley students and the local community to giving back,” Mr. Miller said. Their collective efforts will provide crucial assistance to local families, ensuring a brighter holiday season for those in need within the community.

This impactful food drive embodies Finley Middle School’s commitment to fostering responsible, compassionate citizens, and we are incredibly proud of our students for making such a significant difference this Thanksgiving season.
