Finley Girls’ Tennis Compiles Sensational 9-1 Record
November 6, 2025
The J. Taylor Finley Middle School girls’ tennis team compiled a sensational 9-1 record this fall. Veteran head coach Eric Triolo guided the 21 player team.
“Finishing the season with an impressive 9-1 record was an incredible accomplishment,” Triolo said. “This was truly one of the best Finley teams I've ever had the privilege to coach. The highlights of the season included big wins over Oldfield and Commack, along with an exciting rematch victory against a strong Northport team. After an early loss to Northport, the team showed tremendous determination and teamwork to come back later in the season and earn a thrilling 4-3 tiebreaker win, which was clinched by Rose Poli. We had a great balance of talented seventh and eighth graders who came together to make this season one to remember.”
Eighth grader Rose Poli went 6-4 in No. 1 singles “while playing some very talented players from the other teams,” Triolo said. “She has a great attitude and will be very successful at the next level.”
Seventh grader Maddie Martin was 7-3 in No. 2 singles. “She is a very good athlete and really did a great job this season,” Triolo said. “She continually improved as the season went on. I’m so happy she will be back next year.”
Seventh grader Parker Garrett won five matches in No. 3 singles. Seventh graders Rosie Carrillo and AnnaLisa Hernandez teamed up for a 9-1 mark in No. 1 doubles. “They were a big part of why our team went 9-1,” Triolo said. “I’m looking forward to having them back next year.”
Eighth graders Emma Aversano and Jules Perotti were 7-0 in No. 2 doubles. Eighth grader Kat Lyons was 9-1 in No. 3 doubles with a variety of partners. Eighth graders Katelyn Brite and Natalie Buchner went 4-1 as a doubles team.
“This was a very hard working team that improved so much throughout the season,” Triolo said. “This team displayed unity and a perfect blend of skill, sportsmanship and support for one another. This was one of my favorite seasons coaching tennis.”
The fall 2026 outlook looks promising. “We have a great outlook for next season,” Triolo said. “We return numerous starters including Maddie Martin, Parker Garrett, Rosie Carillo and AnnaLisa Hernandez. Avery Brown will return and did a great job filling in for injured or sick players.”
