Blue Devil Players Among Best on Long Island

Some of the top football players on Long Island are suiting up for Huntington High School this fall. Several Blue Devils are among the best players at their respective positions in various statistical categories.

Running back Yasir Jones is seventh in Suffolk in rushing with 1,085 yards gained on 150 carries. The senior is averaging 7.23 yards per carry. Jones also has scored 19 touchdowns, which ties him for second most in the county. He has also caught 14 passes for 127 yards.

Jones has scored as many as four touchdowns in two separate games and as many as three in two others. He has scored at least one touchdown in every Huntington game.

Quarterback Jacob Guzik is tenth in passing in Suffolk, completing 80-of-104 passes for 1,173 yards and 12 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

Wide receiver Jack Kamestein is fourth in the county in receiving yards with 625. He’s caught 30 passes, including eight that went for touchdowns.

Huntington will host North Babylon in the quarterfinal round of the Suffolk Division II football playoffs on Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets are free to the game.

The Huntington and North Babylon football teams met for the first time in 1960 with the Blue Devils capturing a 44-0 victory. The two teams have previously met 20 times with each team winning 10 games and losing 10 games

This is Huntington’s 102nd season. The Blue Devils own an all-time record of 446-337-30.
