Southdown Students Reap Spring Awards

With a little more than four weeks to go in the school year, Southdown Primary School is wrapping up business at the same time it looks ahead to 2025/26 with excited anticipation.

Southdown Principal Jill Amott-Erwig announced the recipients of student awards for April and May. The Stars of the Month all worked hard in their classrooms and were model citizens around the building.

April’s stars include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Serafina Naples, Madison Garcia

Kindergarten: Theodore “Teddy” Wood, Cristela Raymundo Reyes, Ava Hogg

First Grade: Josue Avila Lopez, Olivia Hults, Sienna Pinkow, Alexandra Gonzalez Galeano

Second Grade: Anthony Raymundo Ruiz, Maya Agee, Jeffrey Hernandez Velasquez Esme Sammis

Third Grade: Brayden Ortega Perdomo, Maxwell “Maxie” Betzios, Layla Servidio, Maryelena Acosta Fuentes

May’s star include:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Gary Messina, Derick Mejia Ponce

Kindergarten: Julia Kozak, Margot Szczurowski, Malcolm Pawelec

First Grade: Joel Martinez, Amiyah Quick, Elizabeth Colindres Avila, Wells Flor

Second Grade: Dereck Guevara Gamboa, Aiden Grijalva Franco, Raven Krygier, Jackson Kessler

Third Grade: Allison Jimenez Melendez, Caroline Duffy, Philip Dunne, Santiago Guillen-Flores

Upcoming Southdown Primary School events include Beach Day on Thursday, June 5 (rain date is Friday, June 13). Southdown’s Moving Up Exercises are set for Tuesday, June 24.
